Ready for Fall !
Fall also means the return of football and my dear husband following the Philadelphia EAGLES! He loves lasagna and I tend not to prepare it during the summer months so for the first game of the season I made a pan of his favorite dish and invited neighbors for dinner. What better time to pull out the Fall decor for our table ?
The easy centerpiece is a earthenware bowl made for me by my niece's husband. I love the color and use it during all seasons. The white candle is a staple, the little apples are from Dollar Tree a few years ago...I added some silk leaves, a tiny pumpkin, and some cinnamon sticks. The place mat underneath the centerpiece is from Pottery Barn. I found it last year in the clearance aisle...there was only one, but it is perfect in the middle of the table.
Silver chargers, our white "good " china ( a wedding gift from my sisters 42 years ago), and napkins I found at Kohl's on clearance. I like the Fall colors with the white in there, too. Perfect for early Fall.
Completed the table with crystal water and wine glasses. It was a great dinner, and we had so much fun talking and laughing. I did not take a photo of the lasagna or the peach crumb pie I made for dessert...too busy having fun. After the lasagna we needed a break before the pie. We decided to go up to the roof top deck in our building. This is a great space with several fire pits, great cushy furniture, and wonderful views of the sunset. Seemed only right to take our wine "up on the roof" and enjoy the sunset before we enjoyed the pie. It was a wonderful evening....and made all the better by the EAGLES winning the season opener!
